Miranza llega a Santander

We kick-off 2025 with a new member of our network, which now includes 37 centres (25 clinics and 12 consultation centres). This isthe Invista ophthalmology clinic, a benchmark in Cantabria for its commitment to eye health for a decade, which is now to become “Miranza Santander”. This operation has allowed us to increase our presence on the Cantabrian coast and underpinned our commitment to northern Spain, where we already feature six clinics, located in Bilbao (Miranza Clínica Begoña and Miranza COI), San Sebastian (Miranza Begitek), Vitoria (Miranza Ókular) and Santiago de Compostela (Miranza Instituto Gómez-Ulla), i.e. just one short of Andalusia, with its 7 clinics.

Ramón Berra, CEO of Miranza, emphasises the importance of this expansion: “Adding Miranza Santander to our network allows us to expand our presence in northern Spain, hence underpinning our commitment to making ophthalmic excellence accessible to more patients throughout the country. We are doing so in partnership with the benchmark centre formerly known as Invista, which is aligned with Miranza’s values and quality standards, which are always focused on offering excellence in treatment and in patient service overall”.

In this regard, the clinic is the only centre in Cantabria that is equipped with CO2 laser technology for advanced eyelid treatments and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. It also offers ICL lens implants as the only accredited centre in the region for this procedure and features PSLT laser to treat open-angle glaucoma. Its special units encompass pathologies such as cataracts, oculoplastics, refractive surgery, glaucoma, retina and vitreous.

For Dr Ramón Bárcena, Medical Director at Miranza Santander, “integration into Miranza does not only involve a new name, but also a significant improvement in our ability to offer comprehensive ophthalmological care. Being part of the leading group in Spain allows us to access the best technologies and provide our patients with the most advanced treatments thanks to Miranza’s commitment to cutting-edge medicine and networking, while enabling collaboration with most leading figures in Spanish ophthalmology, who are part of the Group”.

Located in an iconic building in downtown Santander, the clinic features modern and recently refurbished facilities covering 640 square metres and designed to provide excellent, efficient and comprehensive healthcare.  The multidisciplinary team is made up of six ophthalmologists and three optometrists, as well as three anaesthesiologists, which ensures customised quality care. Headed by medical director Dr Ramón Bárcena, the Santander clinic boasts wide, modern facilities with 14 consulting rooms and two operating theatres, in order to offer care in all ophthalmological subspecialties.
