Miranza and Universidad de Cádiz sign an agreement to promote eye health
The agreement strengthens institutional cooperation in the field of visual health and the well-being of the university community.
Miranza Oculsur and Universidad de Cádiz (UCA) have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting the prevention and training in eye health within the university environment.
The signing ceremony took place at the Rectorate of the Universidad de Cádiz (UCA) and was attended by Casimiro Mantell, Rector of the UCA; Nuria Campos, Vice-Rector for Students; Isabel Benavente, Vice-Rector for Health Sciences and Well-being of the University Community; Federico Hervías, General Director of Student Affairs; Guillermo Choquet, Managing Director of MiranzaOculsur; and Jonás Morais d’Almeida, Regional Director of Miranza in Andalusia.
The agreement will make ophthalmological care more accessible to the university community and highlight the importance of regular eye check-ups, especially in a context where students and professionals are spending more and more hours in front of screens and are subject to sustained visual strain.
As part of this collaboration, both parties are also planning to organise a medical training day at the Faculty of Medicine, with an educational and preventive focus. This initiative would also include vision screenings for anyone wishing to undergo an eye examination, with the aim of promoting early detection of possible visual impairments and encouraging healthy eye care habits.
In addition, both institutions express their commitment to jointly promoting and organising events that help raise greater social awareness about the importance of eye health and the adoption of good daily habits. Through these initiatives, the University of Cádiz and Miranza Oculsur aim to extend preventive care beyond the academic setting and enhance its positive impact on society.
The agreement includes special conditions for ophthalmological care for employees and students of the University of Cádiz, as well as for their relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity. It also establishes a framework of collaboration to assess the feasibility of future training placements for UCA students, always in accordance with university regulations and through the appropriate specific agreements.
As a former student of the Universidad de Cádiz, Guillermo Choquet expressed his satisfaction at formalising this agreement, also highlighting the personal significance of strengthening ties with an institution to which he maintains a close connection. From Miranza’s perspective, the agreement is also seen as an opportunity to reinforce links with educational communities, regarded as a key foundation for the future. In this sense, the company emphasises that starting with the university environment is particularly important to raise awareness about eye care, prevention, and the need for regular check-ups.With this alliance, Miranza Oculsur and the Universidad de Cádiz take another step forward in their commitment to the well-being of the university community, combining specialised care, prevention, and training within a single framework of collaboration
