Miranza expands its presence in Portugal with a new clinic in Lisbon
Miranza continues to advance its expansion plan across the Iberian Peninsula with the acquisition of CPO – Clínica Privada de Oftalmologia, located in Lisbon. With this addition, we now have three centres in Portugal, joining our existing centres in Porto and Guimarães.
In 2025, Clínica Oftalmológica Das Antas, in Porto, led by Professor Manuel Monteiro Pereira, joined the Miranza network, followed by a second centre in Guimarães, Oftlamocenter, led by Dr Luis Gonçalves. With these additions, the group continues to strengthen its presence in the country and advance its growth strategy across the Iberian Peninsula.
Nearly two decades of caring for patients
Founded in 2007 by Dr João Manuel Santos Pinheiro and Madalena Pinheiro, the newly acquired clinic has nearly 20 years of experience in eye care, providing patients with comprehensive care ranging from diagnosis to the treatment of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.
Located in the Tivoli Fórum shopping centre on Avenida da Liberdade, CPO has a medical team of around twelve ophthalmology specialists, as well as its own clinical and surgical facilities, enabling it to perform a wide variety of procedures and treatments. These include LASIK refractive surgery, phakic intraocular lens implantation and premium cataract surgery using a femtosecond laser. Its range of services is complemented by treatments and diagnostic procedures such as YAG laser treatment, intense pulsed light therapy for dry eye disease, oculoplastic surgery and vitrectomy.
The ophthalmology centre also has a long-standing track record of adopting innovative surgical techniques in ophthalmology, having been one of the first clinics in Portugal to introduce procedures such as LASIK surgery and cataract phacoemulsification.

“The addition of CPO represents a major step forward in Miranza’s growth in Portugal, allowing us to expand our presence in the country. We are very proud to welcome a clinic with nearly two decades of experience and a highly experienced medical team into our network. We share the same vision when it comes to the quality of care and patient wellbeing”, said Ricardo Mateos, CEO of Miranza.
