
Dr. Javier GarcíaMontesinos, new medical director of Miranza Málaga
Dr. Javier GarcíaMontesinos has been appointed as the new medical director of Miranza Málaga, succeeding Dr. Emilio Espejo, who had previously held this position. In this way, we continue to promote and support internal talent development.
This decision reflects the natural evolution of the project and the current needs of all parties involved. Dr. Espejo will continue to be part of the team and will maintain his clinical practice as before, contributing his experience and expertise.
Extensive experience and specialization
Dr. García Montesinos has been a specialist in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery at Miranza Málaga since 2023. He earned his medical degree from the University of Málaga and completed his ophthalmology residency at Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid. He has further enhanced his training through fellowships at internationally renowned centers such as Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Dr. García Montesinos holds a PhD in Medicine and has a strong scientific and research background, with several publications in specialized journals and participation in national and international conferences.
Since joining Miranza, Dr. García Montesinos has focused his work on the anterior segment, contributing to the growth and consolidation of this area within the clinic.
Following his recent appointment, Dr. García Montesinos stated: “I take on this new stage with the responsibility of continuing to promote excellence in patient care and the development of our medical team. Our goal is to continue providing patients with comprehensive care based on innovation, high specialization, and clinical quality.”
Strengthening the oculoplastics department
In line with its commitment to clinical excellence, MiranzaMálaga has added Dr. Julián Bermúdez to its medical team, strengthening the oculoplastics department.

Dr. Bermúdez specializes in oculoplastic surgery and has extensive experience in the treatment of eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal disorders. He earned his medical degree from the University of Granada and throughout his career has focused on advanced reconstructive, functional, and aesthetic surgical techniques, including lipotransfer or lipofilling, frontalis flap surgery for congenital ptosis, orbital decompression, as well as complex reconstructions for advanced periocular tumors. Between 2019 and 2025, Dr.Bermúdez was part of the team at Hospital Arruzafa in Córdoba, where he worked as an ophthalmology specialist. In 2022, he became coordinator of the hospital’s oculoplastics unit, leading the development of advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of eyelid and orbital pathologies.
