Dr. Álvaro Fidalgo appointed new medical director of Miranza Clínica El Brillante
We continue to promote internal talent. Dr. Álvaro Fidalgo has been appointed as the new Medical Director of Miranza Clínica El Brillante, succeeding Dr. Antonio Fidalgo, who had previously held this position.
This change reflects a generational transition and the need to make way for a new generation of professionals, while ensuring continuity in the clinic’s healthcare model and the clinical excellence that characterize this Córdoba-based institution. Dr. Antonio Fidalgo will remain part of the team and continue his clinical practice, contributing his extensive experience and knowledge accumulated throughout his career.
This appointment also reflects Miranza’s commitment to internal promotion and talent development within the organization, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and continuous progress in ophthalmological innovation.
Extensive experience and clinical leadership
Dr. Álvaro Fidalgo specializes in cataracts, refractive surgery, and corneal treatments, and has been associated with Miranza Clínica El Brillante since 2016. He earned his medical degree from the University of Córdoba and completed a fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, United States.
Throughout his career, Dr. Álvaro Fidalgo has combined clinical practice with a strong focus on the continuous improvement of clinical processes and patient care. In doing so, he has contributed to strengthening the medical team and consolidating Miranza Clínica El Brillante’s position as a benchmark institution in its field.
Following his recent appointment, Dr. Álvaro Fidalgo stated:

MiranzaClínica El Brillante is a leading ophthalmology center in Andalusia and Córdoba, with more than 30 years of experience in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases. The clinic has a large multidisciplinary team that includes ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, assistants, and administrative staff.
Over its three decades of activity, the clinic — founded by Drs. Antonio Fidalgo and Mª Teresa Aguado — has earned the trust of people from Córdoba and across Andalusia in the care of their eye health. In 2002, the center moved its operations to its current location, a building situated on Avenida El Brillante.
