Miranza expands in Catalonia with the acquisition of IOCAT, with centers in Mataró and El Prat
We are pleased to announce the integration of a new clinic into the Group. It is the Institut Oftalmològic de Catalunya (IOCAT), which operates centers in the Barcelona municipalities of Mataró and El Prat de Llobregat.
With this move, we continue to consolidate our strategy of territorial expansion into high-value healthcare areas, with IMO Grupo Miranza Barcelona leading the way in the region. We now reach a total of 40 facilities, including clinics and consultation centers across Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
With over 20 years of experience, IOCAT specializes in pediatric ophthalmology, ocular microsurgery, refractive surgery, and comprehensive surgical ophthalmology treatments. Its model combines diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up services, provided by a team of expert ophthalmologists and optometrists, led by Drs. Francisco Salvador Rodríguez and Ignacio Salvador Miras.
Following the acquisition, IOCAT becomes part of Miranza (Miranza Mataró and Miranza El Prat), maintaining its professional identity, clinical teams, and local care structure, while progressively integrating into our Group’s best practices. Investments are planned in technology, equipment, and medical training to raise care standards, with patient well-being remaining the top priority.
According to Miranza’s CEO, Ramón Berra, “with the acquisition of IOCAT, we take a decisive step in our expansion strategy in Catalonia. Our aim is to bring ophthalmological excellence closer to more patients in this region, strengthening our network of leading clinics in Spain with a new Miranza clinic, in this case, part of IMO Grupo Miranza”.
