Dr. Marco Sales, new president of the Spanish Society of Oculoplastics

The oculoplastics expert at IMO Grupo Miranza assumes the presidency of SECOP following the XXXIV Congress of the Society, held in Santander.

Dr. Marco Sales, an oculoplastics specialist at the Madrid branch of IMO Grupo Miranza, has been appointed the new president of the Spanish Society of Oculoplastic Surgery (SECOP), following a vote by the society’s members during the closing session of the XXXIV Congress, recently held in the city of Santander.

The doctor, with an extensive clinical-surgical, teaching, and research background, assumes the presidency of SECOP with immediate effect, succeeding Dr. Gorka Martínez Grau, the outgoing president. With a distinguished international career, Dr. Sales has worked in medical centers both in Spain and abroad, establishing himself as a leading figure in eye aesthetics, particularly in blepharoplasty.

For him, it is an honor and a great responsibility to lead a society that has been a benchmark in the field of oculoplastic surgery for over three decades. “It is a privilege for me to assume the presidency for the next four years, and at the same time a great responsibility. During this time, and together with the Board of Directors, I hope to help advance oculoplastic surgery in Spain, uphold and promote a scientific society of progress and excellence, and raise public awareness about the importance of having professionals specifically trained in eyelid, orbital, and tear duct surgery within the field of ophthalmology.”

Dr. Constanza Barrancos is the new board member of the SECOP Executive Committee.

For her part, Dr. Constanza Barrancos, an ophthalmologist specialized in oculoplastics at Miranza Madrid and the Madrid branch of IMO Grupo Miranza, joins the Executive Committee as a board member, thus expanding the Group’s presence within the scientific society. Her appointment also reflects Miranza’s commitment to quality care and the advancement of specialized medicine.

Both professionals are part of the Organizing Committee for the sixth edition of Barcelona Oculoplastics (BOC), which will take place on November 14 and 15 at IMO Grupo Miranza Barcelona. The congress, an international benchmark in the specialty, will feature live surgeries, hands-on workshops, keynote lectures, and interactive sessions on aesthetic medicine, bringing together the world’s leading experts in oculofacial surgery.
