{"id":119599,"date":"2021-09-23T13:34:07","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T11:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/miranza.es\/uncategorized\/modelos-celulares-pioneros-para-el-futuro-tratamiento-de-la-retinosis-pigmentaria\/"},"modified":"2025-07-03T12:25:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T10:25:14","slug":"modelos-celulares-pioneros-para-el-futuro-tratamiento-de-la-retinosis-pigmentaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miranza.es\/en\/news\/modelos-celulares-pioneros-para-el-futuro-tratamiento-de-la-retinosis-pigmentaria\/","title":{"rendered":"Modelos celulares pioneros para el futuro tratamiento de la retinosis pigmentaria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Promovido por Fundaci\u00f3n IMO, el proyecto incluye trabajos punteros con organoides (cultivos celulares en 3D), primer paso para generar retinas \u201cin vitro\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Nuestro equipo investigador ha dise\u00f1ado, desde el laboratorio de biolog\u00eda molecular situado en la sede barcelonesa de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.es\/es\">IMO Grupo Miranza<\/a>, varios modelos celulares pioneros para estudiar in vitro las mutaciones en siete genes asociados a distrofias de la retina, entre ellos, tres causantes de <a href=\"https:\/\/miranza.es\/patologias\/retinosis-pigmentaria\/\">retinosis pigmentaria<\/a>, que puedan ayudar a su tratamiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el marco de este proyecto del \u00c1rea de <a href=\"https:\/\/miranza.es\/en\/our-services\/investigation\/\">I+D+i<\/a> de Miranza, promovido a trav\u00e9s de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.es\/\">Fundaci\u00f3n IMO<\/a>, se ha logrado obtener los dos tipos de c\u00e9lulas retinianas que se ven afectadas por estas enfermedades hereditarias: las c\u00e9lulas del epitelio pigmentario y las c\u00e9lulas fotorreceptoras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, los investigadores de Miranza han ido un paso m\u00e1s all\u00e1 y, a la vanguardia de los procedimientos m\u00e1s punteros internacionalmente, han empezado los trabajos con organoides (cultivos celulares en 3D) de retina. En una primera fase, se trata de agregados de c\u00e9lulas inmaduros y, pr\u00f3ximamente, van a iniciar los protocolos para lograr organoides maduros, cuya estructura y funcionamiento se asemeje al de una retina real para poder estudiar las c\u00e9lulas afectadas por las distrofias retinianas en su contexto. Esto aportar\u00e1 informaci\u00f3n de gran valor para desarrollar tratamientos para la retinosis pigmentaria, entre otras distrofias, en los siguientes a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avanzar hacia el tratamiento de la retinosis pigmentaria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSabemos que la retinosis pigmentaria y otras <a href=\"https:\/\/miranza.es\/pt-pt\/patologias\/distrofias-retinianas\/\">distrofias de la retina<\/a> da\u00f1an las capas m\u00e1s externas de este tejido ocular (el epitelio pigmentario y\/o los fotorreceptores), pero a\u00fan desconocemos algunos de los mecanismos que lo hacen. Crear estos modelos celulares nos permite estudiar cu\u00e1l es el efecto concreto de cada mutaci\u00f3n, que puede actuar inhibiendo la expresi\u00f3n del gen o alterando su funci\u00f3n de diferentes maneras\u201d, explica la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.es\/ca\/esther-pomares\">Dra. Esther Pomares<\/a>, coordinadora de los proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica de nuestro grupo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La genetista a\u00f1ade que \u201ca partir de una mayor comprensi\u00f3n de la enfermedad, podemos avanzar en una doble l\u00ednea hacia futuros tratamientos para la retinosis pigmentaria y distintas distrofias de retina, patolog\u00edas a\u00fan incurables. Por un lado, <a href=\"https:\/\/miranza.es\/en\/news\/imo-grupo-miranza-primer-centro-en-espana-en-probar-una-terapia-genica-para-la-dmae-sec\/\">terapias g\u00e9nicas<\/a> que aporten un nuevo gen o que desactiven el gen defectuoso y, por otro, terapias celulares, mediante la implantaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas sanas en la retina da\u00f1ada\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impacto internacional de los hitos en nuestro laboratorio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Este es el prop\u00f3sito final de un proyecto que, iniciado en 2017, trabaja en la obtenci\u00f3n de modelos celulares para el estudio de las distrofias de la retina. Las c\u00e9lulas del epitelio pigmentario y las c\u00e9lulas fotorreceptoras que se han logrado en nuestro laboratorio de IMO Grupo Miranza, as\u00ed como los organoides, proceden de la diferenciaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas madre iPSC (c\u00e9lulas adultas \u201creprogramadas\u201d para pasar a un estado similar a c\u00e9lulas madre embrionarias).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estos modelos de c\u00e9lulas madre iPSC fueron obtenidos, a su vez, a partir de c\u00e9lulas de la piel de pacientes con distrofias retinianas, un hito publicado en 2020 en revistas cient\u00edficas internacionales y en el que se interes\u00f3 el <em>National Eye Institute NIH<\/em> de Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de un <a href=\"https:\/\/miranza.es\/actualidad\/fundacion-imo-cede-dos-modelos-celulares-unicos-en-el-mundo-al-national-eye-institute\/\">acuerdo de colaboraci\u00f3n<\/a> entre esta instituci\u00f3n y Fundaci\u00f3n IMO, cedimos algunos de los modelos, compartiendo el hallazgo con la comunidad cient\u00edfica para progresar en el tratamiento de estas enfermedades oculares minoritarias, como la retinosis pigmentaria, de origen gen\u00e9tico y responsables de p\u00e9rdida severa de visi\u00f3n. Con ello, seguimos avanzando para que el futuro tratamiento de la retinosis pigmentaria y otras distrofias de la retina est\u00e9 m\u00e1s
